Making Research Happen - A Researcher Development Workshop
25th February 2010
The Society & College of Radiographers Headquarters, 207 Providence Square, London, SE1 2EW, UK
The aim of this interactive practical workshop is to encourage clinical radiographers to undertake research and to instill a research culture in the radiography profession. The workshop will help kick-start the research potential of radiography practitioners, by enhancing the research confidence of ‘early stage’ researchers (i.e. those with some exposure to research or experience as part of a project team and those with some research methods training but limited/no experience in grant application writing).
Parts of the day will focus on increasing the success of clinical based radiographers in gaining research award funds, with particular emphasis on the CoRIPS research award, and how to effectively present and disseminate research findings.
Facilitators for the day are:
· Rachel Harris, Professional Officer for Research at the SCoR
· Heidi Probst, Senior Lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University
· Fiona Mellor, Research Radiographer at the Institute for Musculoskeletal Research and Clinical Implementation, Bournemouth
· Fred Murphy, Senior Lecturer at the University of Salford
By the end of the day you will have:
· Identified key strategies to get your research ideas off the ground
· Identified a range of funders suitable for your research topic ideas
· Developed an understanding of what funding bodies are looking for in a research application
· Considered your own research training needs
· Understood how to disseminate your research outputs for maximum impact
Please bring your research idea(s) with you!
If you subsequently make a successful application for a CoRIPS Research Award, your delegate fees will be reimbursed in full.
